About the Company and Position

Automotive sheet metal fabrication company located in the Columbus, Ohio area. We are seeking production workers who will manufacture sheet metal and light rail parts.

Position Details

Shift: 1st shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with overtime as needed.
Pay Rate: $17.50 per hour

Summary

Sets up and operates both mechanical and hydraulic power presses to bend, form, stretch, and straighten metal plates, extrusions, and other components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan sequence of operations.
• Measure and mark workpieces for reference lines.
• Select and position die sets into the machine.
• Align and bolt dies to the machine.
• Adjust ram depth and pressure using switches or manual controls.
• Lift and position workpieces between dies.
• Operate presses to bend or straighten metal.
• Reposition workpieces and change dies as needed.
• Finish workpieces by hand, grind burrs and sharp edges.
• Inspect and mark finished workpieces.
• Bend or straighten cold metal.
• Set dies for punching and blanking heavy metals.
• Operate presses with multiple rams for complex bends and draws.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 years related experience.
• Blueprint reading, stamping, or welding experience is a plus.
• Good attitude and communication skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to use calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, walk, handle tools, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
