Job summary

Metals USA Tulsa facility is seeking a Press Brake Trainee to support advanced production activities, operating multiple machines, and handling materials with overhead cranes. Training will cover aligning tooling, measuring to blueprints, and performing quality inspections while ensuring safety and accuracy on each piece.

The role requires reading English instructions, using calipers and gauges, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Advanced reading and writing comprehension in English (to read work order instructions, safety, and policy manuals).
• Advanced measuring skills to read English & Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper, gauges, or micrometer.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Experience operating an overhead crane / forklift operator.
• Must be proficient in the use of hand tools including grinder.
• Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
• Computer Literacy; Microsoft Products, CAD Programming and ERP.
• Must be organized with attention to detail.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Positions work pieces for processing.
• Operates a combination of different machines to process work by cutting, burning, sawing, blasting, shearing, punching, grinding, bending, or pressing.
• Uses gauges, calipers, squares, or rulers for measurement.
• Determines processing specifications such as materials, cutting tools, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences by reviewing blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications.
• Installs and aligns specified punches, cutting blades or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, or hand tools.
• Adjusts controls to set cutting speed, depth and feed rates; and diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments.
• Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality Inspections.
• Coordinates and executes material handling of all inventories to be processed including operation of overhead crane.
• Performs limited preventative maintenance, such as lubrication, cleaning and changing of parts.
• May train less experienced workers and perform as lead in absence of group leader.
• May mark identification on material/work pieces before processing.
• May mark material after processing; store material for additional processing and/or shipping.
• Restocks material.
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
