Job summary

Cadrex is seeking a Press Brake Set Up II to prepare brake machines and tooling for production, read blueprints, and ensure quality and accuracy across processes. You may assign duties, lead in the absence of supervision, and help train operators in setup, inspection, and documentation.

The role works onsite, supports efficient production, and requires attention to detail, teamwork, and initiative. A high school diploma is required, with union or shift experience a plus.

Qualifications

  • Set up assigned department machines and complete processes to company specifications on a consistent basis
  • Understand the assembly and machine operations process and the movement of completed components
  • Produce a high‑quality product according to required specifications on a consistent basis
  • Produce the required quantity of product according to required output specifications
  • Use computers as required
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely
  • Operate all hand tools, machines and equipment successfully as required and with minimal supervision
  • Work as a productive team member who contributes to the organization’s success
  • Handle fast‑paced work
  • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative to see tasks that are needed and complete them without being instructed to do so by supervisors or lead personnel
  • Demonstrate dependability with good attendance

Responsibilities

  • Performs set‑up duties to prepare brake machines and processes for production or assembly
  • Installs, adjusts, changes, and aligns tooling and equipment to prepare for production operations
  • Works from schedules and instructions to analyze machines, process problems, and/or determine solutions
  • Monitors processes and recommends improvements to increase productivity and assure quality
  • Uses precision measuring tools on a continuous basis to verify accuracy of formed products, based on AQL frequency
  • Assures that all materials are available at machines and workstations
  • Assures proper quality during all phases of production, including materials and packaging
  • Placing parts on a die
  • Adjusting to ensure proper placement on a consistent basis
  • Ensuring that angles and dimensions are correct
  • Ensuring the proper sequence of process and required quantity of output
  • Making minor adjustments and clearing alarms
  • Reading blueprints
  • Understanding the assembly process and the movement of completed components
  • Using safety straps, machine guards, and/or laser guards, and maintaining a ¼‑inch gap to ensure safe machine operation
  • Using precision measuring tools, such as a caliper, height gauge, and/or other precision measuring tools on a continuous basis to verify the accuracy of formed products
  • Ensuring that all materials are available at machines and workstations and are of proper quality during all phases of production, including but not limited to materials and packaging
  • Assuring efficient production through all phases of the area of production
  • Executing proper inspection methods to receive approval to start a job and making periodic quality checks of product to ensure that quality standards are met. Also assisting operators with and training them in the proper techniques of product inspection
  • Assisting in maintaining equipment and keeping work areas clean and orderly
  • Instructing and assisting operators and other workers in machine operation, process setup, quality standards, and process documentation
  • Assisting operators with measuring, blueprint‑reading, and minor adjustments
  • Reporting and preventing equipment and process malfunctions, material discrepancies, and documentation errors
  • Working within the area to assure production flows in an efficient manner, including planning for smooth transition to the next schedule job for the area
  • Ensuring that all paperwork and documentation is completed accurately and timely
  • May perform the duties of Brake Operator I or Brake Operator II, as necessary
  • May train new employees, provide work instruction, and answer questions in the absence of a lead or supervisor
