Job summary

United Way of Greenville County seeks a Press Brake Operator to safely run CNC press brake machines to form, shape, and bend metal parts according to blueprints and quality standards. This on-site, second-shift role includes a $1.50 per hour premium for 2nd shift and a schedule of Monday–Thursday 4:30pm–3am.

You will monitor performance, read blueprints, inspect parts with calipers, angle gauges, and tape measures, support tooling changes, and learn basic setups as you gain experience.

SUMMARY

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for safely operating CNC press brake machines to form, shape, and bend metal parts according to blueprint specifications and quality standards. This entry-level role focuses on machine operation, part inspection, and maintaining production output while learning press brake setup and tooling procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Functions

Operate CNC press brake machines safely and efficiently.

Monitor machine performance during production runs and adjust machine settings as needed to maintain quality.

Maintain acceptable production output while minimizing scrap.

Read and interpret blueprints and job instructions.

Use measuring tools such as calipers, angle gauges, and tape measures.

Inspect parts during production to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances.

Report defects or nonconforming parts to supervisor or lead.

Assist with tooling changes and job setup procedures.

Learn to select appropriate tooling and adjust machine parameters.

Perform basic setups independently as training and experience progress.

Support quick changeovers and continuous improvement efforts.

Build and assemble vent units, including frames, doors, and internal components.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality.

Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.

Ability to stand for 10–12 hours per shift and lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis.

Strong work ethic and willingness to support team success across departments.

1-2 years previous press brake experience required.

Ability to correctly read blueprints and accurately use measuring tools required.
