Job summary

Description

The Press Brake Operator position takes sheet metal in a flat form and shapes it to the finished dimensions per the supplied drawing. This includes interpreting the drawing, determining the proper forming steps, determining the proper tooling needed, programming the press brake, forming the part and inspecting the part using the proper tools to insure it complies with the drawing. The Operator will read the shop traveler and incorporate any special instructions for manufacturing. The Operator will produce the parts in the proper quantity and insure the count is correct and then package the finished product for shipment or move it to the next location for additional processing.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Good motor skills and eye–hand coordination.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills to interpret drawings, blueprints, and templates that accompany the product.
  • Ability to use general hand tools and inspection equipment such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, protractors, hammers, wrenches, grinders, etc.
  • Safety-conscious and able to wear appropriate personal safety equipment as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and keep the machinery and work area clean and functional.
  • Ability to determine the most efficient process for forming and bending the product to produce the desired result.
  • Basic computer skills to program the machine, properly secure the finished program, and retrieve programs as required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to make job decisions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility and ability to set up and run multiple parts per day as needed.
Work Conditions
  • General light industrial environment; may be noisy at times.
  • Non-temperature controlled environment.
  • Enclosed tilt up building with cross ventilation and fluorescent lighting.
  • Lifting required up to 50 lbs.
  • Casual attire with personal protective equipment worn as designated by the Supervisor.
Educational and Work Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent technical training is required.
  • Must be able to read English and be competent in reading blueprints, shop travelers, and general technical information.
  • Minimum of 5 years of job experience in a job shop environment with varying products is optimal.
Other Requirements
  • Other job functions may be applicable as deemed by the Supervisor.
