Position Summary:
The Press Brake Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Press Brake, as well as performing various fabrication projects as required.
Major Responsibilities:
- Use hand tools, bench equipment, and light machinery for deburring, filing, grinding, and polishing machined parts.
- Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, squaring tools, electronic levels, calipers, and micrometers.
- Understand and apply tolerances for parts.
- Identify causes of machine performance issues and implement measures to increase output.
- Ensure accuracy in alignment, dimensional inspection, and perform spot inspections.
- Interpret work orders, blueprints, and bills of material; complete and maintain related paperwork.
- Configure bend allowances for sheet metal (stainless, aluminum, steel).
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, etc., to lift and transport materials over 50 pounds.
- Perform cycle counts as prescribed by Production and Inventory Control.
- Maintain housekeeping standards.
Required Education / Experience / Skills:
- Proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating CNC press brakes; must be familiar with all onsite press brake machines.
- Ability to document tooling and safety practices for press brake operations.
- Calculate blank sizes, bend locations, tonnage, and select appropriate tooling.
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machines accordingly.
- Report machine issues to management.
- Communicate effectively with management and team members to resolve machining and quality issues.
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
- Read blueprints and understand basic fractions, decimals, and dimensions.
- Apply common sense to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Handle problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Have intermediate PC skills (email, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics).
- Plan and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Perform moderate physical activities, including standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, reaching, and handling objects.
- Lift weights up to 50 pounds as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Work near moving mechanical parts (66% of the time).
- Other conditions include moderate noise levels; minimal exposure to environmental hazards.
Travel: No overnight travel required.
