Job Summary
Learn and follow the required procedures to operate advanced flexographic press machines including UTeco and F&K models. Responsibilities include executing production runs, monitoring print quality, preparing job materials, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. This position plays a key role in supporting performance, safety, and continuous improvement goals across the department.
Operations
You will set up and verify the correct placement of anilox rolls, print cylinders, plates, and film for production. Prepare and load the proper inks, coatings, and varnishes for each job. Ensure proper registration, unwind position, and print specifications are met during make-ready. Operate the press and assist in maintaining ink flow, viscosity, and web alignment using digital tools and manual controls. Monitor print quality, match colors to visual standards, and adjust as needed during the run. Support job changeovers, assist with press maintenance, and return materials to storage with the correct documentation. Work closely with operators and leads to ensure smooth transitions between jobs and shifts. You may be asked to support other production-related responsibilities as assigned.
Quality Control
Ensure that the required footage is run for each job and verify it matches the production order. Check printed film to ensure the correct print side, proper color match, and absence of defects. Record viscosity and color quality data at scheduled intervals. Confirm that printed output meets visual and dimensional standards.
Maintenance
Maintain a clean and organized work area. Replenish materials such as ink and film to prevent downtime. Report any mechanical or print quality concerns to supervision or maintenance as soon as they arise.
Reporting And Recordkeeping
Complete all required production documentation including ink logs, plate and roll tracking, inspection records, and press history sheets. Ensure job packets are complete before and after each run and communicate any deviations clearly to the next shift.
Compliance And Other Duties
Follow all Sabert safety and quality procedures including GMP, PPE, HACCP, LOTO, and JSA. Participate in initiatives supporting food safety, quality control, sustainability, and process improvement. Immediately report any unsafe conditions, quality concerns, or equipment issues to leadership.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED is required. Technical or trade school experience is preferred. One or more years of flexo press operation is preferred, particularly with UTeco or F&K presses. Experience in a high-speed manufacturing or printing environment is strongly desired. Technical knowledge should include printing processes, mechanical and pneumatic systems, basic hydraulic operations, and the use of powered industrial trucks or pallet jacks. Applicants must be comfortable using RF scanners, warehouse systems, and measuring tools such as rulers and viscosity cups. Applicants should be able to read and understand production instructions, safety guidelines, and quality control documents. Clear communication and attention to detail are essential. Basic math skills and the ability to interpret measurements are required.
Working Conditions
This role requires consistent use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear. Additional protective gear may be required for certain tasks. Physical demands include standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, color recognition, and the ability to detect defects and alignment shifts.
Schedule And Pay
This is a rotating shift position with coverage for both day and night shifts. Candidates must be available to work a rotating schedule as assigned. A $1.00 per hour shift differential is provided for all night shift hours.
