Job description

Better Markets seeks a President & CEO to lead the organization in promoting its mission of economic and social justice by ensuring economic security, opportunity, and prosperity for all Americans. This independent and nonpartisan organization works toward this through advocacy on economic and financial policymaking, including in regulatory agency rulemakings, research and policy analysis, litigation, expert advice, and public education.

The CEO will set the organization’s strategic vision, direct its policy agenda, and lead a team of senior mission-driven experts. They will also be its leading voice with Congress, regulators, the White House, the media, and donors. Working with the staff, the role covers the organization’s financial health, fundraising relationships, and communications strategy, so it suits a leader who can facilitate turning the subject matter experts’ deep policy knowledge into action, influence and impact across Washington, D.C.

The ideal candidate brings executive leadership experience and skills plus a background in the public or nonprofit sector. They also bring a strong command of the economy or financial markets and regulation, established relationships with policymakers, and the credibility to represent Better Markets on the national stage. They understand the nuances and ecosystem of Washington, D.C. An advanced degree, experience with the media, and a fundraising track record are not necessary but strongly preferred.
