Job description

My client is seeking an accomplished President to provide executive leadership and strategic direction across their construction operations in the USA.

They are looking for a proven construction executive who can lead the continued growth of the business while maintaining strong operational performance, profitability, safety and client relationships.

The President will have overall responsibility for the company’s operational and financial performance, working closely with the executive leadership team to establish and execute their long-term growth strategy.

This position requires a commercially focused leader with extensive construction experience and a proven track record of managing large teams, developing senior leaders and successfully growing a construction business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall executive leadership and strategic direction for the construction business.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term business plans aligned with their growth objectives.
  • Hold overall P&L responsibility and drive revenue growth, profitability and operational performance.
  • Oversee construction operations across multiple projects, markets and geographic locations.
  • Establish annual budgets, forecasts and performance targets and ensure they are achieved.
  • Provide executive oversight of project delivery, including schedule, cost, quality, safety and client satisfaction.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing leadership team across operations, preconstruction, estimating and business development.
  • Identify opportunities for geographic expansion, new markets and additional service offerings.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key clients, partners, subcontractors and industry stakeholders.
  • Work closely with preconstruction and business development teams to evaluate opportunities and establish pursuit strategies.
  • Provide executive oversight of major project pursuits, contract negotiations and project risk.
  • Establish processes and procedures that allow the business to scale effectively.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of backlog, pipeline, project performance and market conditions.
  • Ensure they continue to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and operational excellence.
  • Develop succession plans and identify future leaders throughout the organization.
  • Represent my client with major clients and throughout the wider construction industry.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Extensive leadership experience within the US construction industry.
  • Previous experience at President, Regional President, Executive Vice President, COO, Division President, Vice President or similar executive level.
  • Proven experience holding significant P&L responsibility within a construction organization.
  • Demonstrated success growing revenue and profitability while maintaining operational performance.
  • Experience overseeing large construction portfolios and multiple project teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, preconstruction, estimating, business development and project controls.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop and retain senior construction leaders.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic growth plans.
  • Excellent client-facing, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, risk management and project delivery.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or a related discipline preferred.
