Qualifications

• Must meet one of the listed Teacher Associate/Teacher Assistant qualifications.
• Support classroom teachers in care, education, and supervision.
• Maintain health, safety, and licensing regulations.
• Assist with daily lessons and projects.
• Fingerprinting and background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom and teachers to ensure smooth daily operations and meet individual needs.
• Supervise children at all times in classroom and outside during meals, rest, and play.
• Assist children with toileting routines and proper handwashing.
• Maintain orderliness of classrooms, playgrounds, and materials daily and address safety hazards.
• Follow mandated reporting policies and licensing regulations.

Education

Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three Certificate

Associate degree in Early Childhood / Child Development / Elementary Education

Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program

Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont with 12 months experience

Twenty-one college credits with early childhood or school age focus

Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One or Two Certificate
