Job summary

Chilmark Preschool is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a collaborative team that emphasizes a structured, developmentally appropriate early childhood program. The role supports teachers, maintains a safe and engaging classroom, and communicates effectively with families.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma, complete mandatory clearances and certifications, and commit to ongoing professional development while contributing to community events and fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrates effective communication with colleagues, directors, parents and children.
• Professionalism in relationships with colleagues and families.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education.
• Ability to supervise classroom and playground and keep environment safe and clean.
• Complete 20 hours of professional development annually (expenses covered).

Responsibilities

• Ensure children are supervised at all times by a qualified teacher.
• Collaborate with Co-Teacher(s), other team members and Director for daily program operations and children's safety.
• Participate in weekly team and planning time to design learning opportunities and curriculum.
• Communicate with team to meet children's developmental needs.
• Participate in welcoming calls or classroom visits for each family in fall.
• Support fundraising efforts and attend Parent/Teacher Conferences and CPS community events.
