Job summary

Chilmark Preschool in Massachusetts seeks an experienced Lead Teacher to join a team teaching model reporting to the Program Director. The role requires certification and a commitment to child development, safety and curriculum development.

Candidate must have CDA or a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and at least two years of preschool/toddler classroom experience, plus required background checks and CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• EEC Lead Teacher certification (toddlers preferred).
• CDA or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Minimum two years preschool/toddler classroom experience.
• CORI, DCF, SORI, NSOR, BRC and fingerprinting checks required.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Strong communication with colleagues, parents and children.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice.
• Ability to develop curricula aligned to school mission.
• Commitment to 20 hours of annual professional development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children at all times by a qualified teacher.
• Collaborate with Co-Teacher(s), Program Director for daily operations.
• Assume full responsibility with substitutes.
• Explain philosophy and policies to parents with Director assistance.
• Participate in weekly team and planning time.
• Communicate to meet children's developmental needs.
• Document children's growth with photos, work samples, and anecdotes.
• Participate with families for fall welcome calls or visits.
• Support the PAC and attend conferences and CPS events.
