Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Preschool Teacher to assist in supervising children ages 3-5, plan and implement activities, and maintain a safe, engaging learning environment. The role requires 12 CORE units of ECE and a minimum of 6 months experience in a preschool setting.

A fingerprint clearance, physical exam, TB test, and CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days are required. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:45am to 5:45pm.

Qualifications

• 12 CORE units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) required.
• Minimum of 6 months experience working with youth in a preschool setting.
• Criminal record clearance by fingerprinting prior to reporting to work.
• Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• General housekeeping of program space and food preparation.
• Plan and coordinate activities that fit children's developmental needs and interests.
• Record and monitor the daily activities of children in your care.
• Assist in the planning and preparation of the creative learning environment, establishment of interest centers, and preparation of needed material and supplies.
• Communicate with parents effectively and create a positive relationship.
• Interact with children being consistent, fair and treating them with dignity and respect according to the YMCA Code of Conduct.
• Comply with Community Care Licensing regulations at all times.
• Maintain the cleanliness and health standards of the environment at all times.
• Ensure the supervision and safety of children at all times.
• Plan and implement daily schedule and curriculum.
• Plan, supervise and implement the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.
• Follow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staff.
