Job summary

YMCA Lafayette is seeking a Preschool Teacher's Aide Floater to support classrooms from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday. You will assist the lead teacher, help implement daily plans, and ensure safe, engaging activities for children.

The role requires on-site availability, willingness to complete trainings within 30 days, and the ability to collaborate with diverse families and staff. Spanish speaking is a plus; paid time off and retirement plans are part of the benefits.

Qualifications

• Related experience in early childhood or classroom support.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Flexible schedule; may cover full days to substitute.
• Within 30 days of hire complete required trainings: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Ability to work on site at the Y.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all backgrounds.
• Spanish language ability preferred.

Job Description

Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A Preschool Teacher's Aide Floater is responsible for the supervision and supportive management of a classroom. Performs activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group. Works cooperatively with the lead teacher to discuss and aide in the implementation of daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum. Provides additional classroom coverage and support as needed, assisting both classrooms throughout the day to help maintain consistent care and supervision.
