Job summary

NEMCSA is seeking a Preschool Teacher to support classroom learning for young children in Head Start programs. The role focuses on guiding social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and partnering with families to promote kindergarten readiness.

You will work in a supportive environment with ongoing professional development and opportunities to contribute to child well-being and school readiness goals.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in Head Start or other Early Childhood Program preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree with teaching certification and endorsements as specified by MI requirements.
• Preschool/ECE specialization aligned with early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
• Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
• Assist with classroom activities, behavior support, and daily operations.
• Partner with families through communication, conferences, and home visits.
• Promote children's health, safety, and overall well-being.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support school readiness goals.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Requirements

What We Will Love About You:

• Bachelor’s Degree with a valid Michigan Teaching certificate and a ZA endorsement or
• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood – General and Special Education ZS endorsement or
• Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education (major) with specialization in preschool teaching is required.
• Two years’ experience in Head Start or other Early Childhood Program is preferred.
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
