Job summary

Laveen Elementary School District is seeking a Preschool Teacher for General Education (Pre-school) to join a dedicated team in Laveen, AZ. The role centers on delivering instruction aligned to Arizona Early Learning Standards and fostering a safe, engaging learning environment for young students.

The candidate will hold a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, must be AZ certified, CPR/First Aid certified within 30 days, and be prepared to collaborate with families and colleagues to support student

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree.
  • Arizona Teacher Certification.
  • Must be highly qualified to teach assigned grade and/or content.
  • Valid Arizona DPS fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR/First Aid certified within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and develops subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  • Assesses student progress towards learning targets, objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Demonstrates and differentiates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to improve student achievement.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
  • Reports incidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to state law and board policies.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Supports other classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
  • Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state.
  • Maintains attendance.
  • Actively engages with grade level colleagues in giving and receiving feedback on instruction, examining student work, analyzing evidence of instructional effectiveness, and sharing responsibility for student learning.
  • Seeks opportunities to share practices and learning with colleagues and to learn from them.
  • Involves families in setting goals and expectations for individual student learning and development.
  • Communicates expectations for individual students to families, and works with them to develop and monitor strategies at home to support students in achieving those goals.
  • Communicates with families regarding individual student learning and progress.
  • Responds fully to families’ concerns about students, and follows up by providing information about progress or changes.
  • Maintains relationships with families that are characterized by mutual support.
  • Supports the school’s shared vision and common goals.
  • Seeks opportunities and accepts leadership roles within the school.
  • Contributes to improvement efforts within the school.
  • Seeks out and participates in ongoing professional learning opportunities within and outside the school that generally address needs identified through examination of evidence of instructional effectiveness.
  • Directs student teachers, instructional associates, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  • Demonstrates the consistent use of proven, research-based strategies for effective classroom management, lesson planning, flexible grouping, active student engagement, and instructional delivery.
  • Follows Arizona Department of Health Services rules and regulations.
  • Assists the Kids Klub office with the collection of tuition.
  • Ensures billing statements are handed out each week to the parents.
  • Must attend DES Health and Safety training with in the first 90 days. And be able to complete 18 hours of required trainings annually.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
