Teacher Assistant

Sign On Bonus - $1,500 (paid in 2 parts)

Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 7:30 am - 5:00 pm - no weekends

As a Teacher Assistant, you will assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of teaching, behavior management, and supporting students' success in school. You will report to the Preschool Supervising Teacher and work onsite.

Description

Responsibilities include:

• Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.
• Assist in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials accordingly.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Monitor student behavior, help maintain discipline, assist with crisis prevention and de-escalation.
• Implement behavior plans, record behavior data, and complete incident reports.
• Supervise students during non-instructional periods and ensure a safe environment.
• Support the implementation of Pyramid Model principles to foster social and emotional development.
• Attend training and professional development sessions.
• Perform clerical duties, maintain records, and operate classroom equipment.
• Collaborate with staff and incorporate information from parents and professionals to support students.
• Assist with assessments and ensure student safety and well-being.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements and Education

• Associates degree preferred.
• Ability to work with children with emotional and behavioral challenges aged 3-5.
• NYS Education Teacher Assistant Certification.
