Location: AlRazi Academy – West Des Moines, Iowa

Status: Full‑Time

Role Overview

AlRazi Academy is seeking a dedicated, multifaceted educator to join our leadership team. This "hybrid" role is designed for a professional who loves the classroom but is ready to step into Early Childhood administration. You will spend a portion of your day fostering a nurturing learning environment for our students and the remainder supporting the Director in operational excellence and State and Quality compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Lead Teaching (Instructional Excellence)
  • Curriculum Development: Plan and implement age‑appropriate lesson plans that align with Iowa Early Learning Standards (IELS) following the assigned curriculum.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, clean, quality, and organized environment that fosters social‑emotional and academic growth.
  • Assessment: Conduct ongoing student observations and formal assessments (e.g., GOLD) to track developmental milestones.
  • Family Engagement: Lead parent‑teacher conferences and maintain open communication regarding student progress.
Assistant Director (Administrative Support)
  • State Compliance: Ensure the center consistently meets or exceeds Iowa Department of Human and Health Services (HHS) licensing requirements.
  • Staff Mentorship: Assist in supervising staff, conducting classroom observations, and modeling best practices in early childhood education.
  • Operations: Support the Director with enrollment, scheduling, records management, and occasional tours for prospective families.
  • Leadership: Act as the "Director‑in‑Charge" in the absence of the Director, handling immediate Early Childhood program or personnel needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education & Experience: Required: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a closely related field. CDA or working toward CDA can be accepted based on experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 0–3 years of lead teaching experience in a licensed childcare setting. Prior administrative or "lead teacher" oversight experience is highly preferred.
  • Licensure: Must meet state of Iowa requirements for a Preschool Teacher and Assistant Director.
  • Skills & Certifications: Valid CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Completion of Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Iowa Quality for Kids (IQ4K) or similar quality rating systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
