Job summary

North Central Missouri College is seeking a Teacher Assistant to aid the lead teacher in child development and center management. The assistant will support planning and implementing developmental experiences across classrooms, playgrounds, and field trips.

You will help with supervision, behavior support, and parent/volunteer coordination, while maintaining records and assisting in training opportunities for staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CDA or some college preferred.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background screening.
• Required to obtain/maintain a CDA within two years from hire.
• Maintain health requirements: annual TB skin test and physical.
• Lift 40–50 pounds as needed.
• Excellent communication with children and families; teamwork with adults; follow teacher guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in planning, executing, and evaluating developmental experiences for children.
• Assist in managing the operation of the center and supervising Head Start children.
• Support in daily classroom activities, lunchroom, playground, and field trips.
• Reinforce positive behavior and maintain consistent expectations.
• Help with records, parent/volunteer coordination, and center housekeeping.
