Job summary

4Cs Sonoma County is seeking a Preschool Teacher to join our licensed sites in Santa Rosa, CA. The role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, conducting child assessments, and engaging families in a collaborative setting.

The ideal candidate holds a CA Child Development Teacher Permit, CPR/First Aid, and meets Title 5/22 licensing requirements. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with standard hours and occasional supervisory duties.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• English communication required; Spanish desired.
• Criminal record clearance (Livescan).
• CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification.
• CA Title 22/Title 5 funding/licensing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Monitor children’s learning progress and document records.
• Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum (DRDP-R).
• Design circle time activities promoting participation.
• Collaborate with teaching team to document progress and guide planning.
• Ensure compliance with Title 5 and Title 22 licensing rules.
• Supervise other staff in the absence of Site Supervisor.
• Maintain child safety and support positive development.
• Plan parent activities and assist with center maintenance.
• Contribute to program evaluation and goal setting.
• Support social-emotional development and toilet learning.
• Attend staff meetings and training.

Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM – 5 PM

The Community Child Care Council is looking for a Preschool Teac her to j oin the 4Cs team . The i deal candidate wi ll work closely with the Site Supervisor to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum , and perform other program related tasks, including the completion of child assessments and parent conferences. Teachers are supervised by the Site Supervisor .

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor specific children’s progressive learningskills,document records of learning activities. Assess children using the required assessment tools.
• Create and implement developmentallyappropriate programcurriculum, integrating both individual and group information from the required assessment tool (DRDP-R) in the planning process.
• Design and implement fun, flexible, and interactive circle time activities that capture children’s interest and promote participation. Circle time should support learning goals while allowing for creativity and adaptability based on the needs of the children.
• Collaborate and partner with the teachingteamincluding assistants andapprenticesin documenting children’s developmental progress. Support and guide planningprocess, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment for the entire team’s professional growth.
• Comply withall funder and licensing regulations (Title 5 and Title 22).
• In the absence of the Site Supervisor, may supervise Associate Teachers, Apprentices, Assistants, and substitutes
• Supervise and monitor children’s activities and behavior using a relationship-based approach that emphasizes individual learning needs and flexibility, recognizing that a supportive and adaptable approach iscritical in ensuring the children’s physical and environmental safety, while fosteringappropriateand positive development.
• Demonstrate positive attitude, language, and body language that reflects support and respect to the entirecentercommunity: families, children, co-workers, and community partners.
• Help to plan and coordinate parent activities.
• Help tomaintaincenter buildings and grounds.
• Provide input on program goals andparticipatein an annual program evaluation (ECERS/ITERS, CLASS).
• Build positive relationships with parents, children, and staff to fostersocialemotional growth and development and learning.
• Support children’s social and emotional development through the direct teaching of emotional literacy, emotional regulation, and problem-solving strategies and friendship skills.
• Diapering anduseage-appropriate toilet learning strategies.
• Partner with parents to support toilet learning.
• Attend andparticipatein staff meetings and in-service training as scheduled.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• None

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in Englishrequired, Spanish, desired.
• Ability to work well with people from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds
• Criminal record clearance (Livescan).
• Current certification in CPR and Pediatric First Aid.
• Must meet all relevant funding and licensing requirements (CA CCL, Title 22, Title 5).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GEDrequired.
• Child Development Teacher Permit issued by CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing–Required.
• Minimum1 year experience.
• For those working with children aged 2-3 years, completion of anadditional3.00-unit Infant Toddler course isrequired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• 4Cs Licensed Child Care Sites

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Health clearance by physician; ability to fulfill physical requirements of the job includinglifting upto 50 pounds, range of movement including squatting, bending, reaching, standing, and sitting.
• Proof of current Immunizations (Measles, Pertussis, Influenza). T.B. clearance within one year.
• Must be able to lift 15-50 pounds at times, range of movement including squatting, bending, reaching, standing, and sitting.

TRAVEL:

• Occasionally,10% for training or staff meetings.
  • A valid California Driver’s License and insured vehicle is needed for travel for work related purposes.Employees who do not plan to drive themselves for work-related purposes mustsubmita travel plan to their supervisor.

• The pay range is based on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience. Most candidates are hired at the beginning of the pay range, with clear opportunities for growth and advancement within the pay band over time. Compensation decisions are made holistically, ensuring fairness and alignment with market benchmarks while recognizing individual contributions, performance, and long-term potential.
