Qualifications

  • Criminal Livescan clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor children under supervisor guidance.
  • Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Support CACFP meal procedures, prep, and cleanup.
  • Assist with other program tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrate respectful communication with families and staff.
  • Comply with Title 22 and Title 5 licensing regulations.

The Community Child Care Council is looking for a Substitute Teacher to join the 4Cs team . Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor and/or the classroom teaching team in the Centers, Substitute Teachers will fill in for absent center staff as needed and fulfill Teacher/ Assistant duties and responsibilities (supervise children, provide support to teaching staff, and perform other program related tasks as needed) as familiarity with children, staff, and site-specific tasks as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Under direct supervision of a teacher, supervise and monitor children’s activities and behavior using a relationship-based approach that emphasizes individual learning needs and flexibility, recognizing that a supportive and adaptable approach is fostering appropriate and positive development.
  • Assist in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate program curriculum, with support and guidance of the Site Supervisor and permitted teaching staff.
  • Participate in CACFP meal and procedure compliance, meal preparation, clean up, and CACFP duties as assigned.
  • Assistwith other program tasks asrequired.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude, language, and body language that reflects support and respect to the entire center community: families, children, and co-workers.
  • Comply withall funder and licensing regulations (Title 22 and Title 5).
  • Maintain required State and program records, as necessary.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work well with people from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood education best practices.
  • Willingness to learn about and follow4Csprogram philosophy and curriculum.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to communicate with children and adults in English and Spanish strongly desired.
  • T.B. clearance within the last year or beforehired.
  • Criminal record clearance (Livescan).
  • Trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid, preferred.
  • Reliable transportation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or GEDrequired.
  • 6 or more units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development, highly preferred.
  • Child Development Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit issued by CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing, desired.
  • Minimum1 year experience working with young children.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • 4Cs Licensed Child Care Sites
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements of the job includinglifting upto fifty pounds, range of movement including squatting, bending, reaching, standing, and sitting.
  • Health clearance by a physician.
  • Proof of current Immunizations (Measles [MMR], Pertussis [TDAP]).
TRAVEL:
  • Occasionally,10% for training or staff meetings.
  • A valid California Driver’s License and insured vehicle is needed for travel for work related purposes. Employees who do not plan to drive themselves for work-related purposes mustsubmita travel plan to their supervisor.

  • The pay range is based on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience. Most candidates are hired at the beginning of the pay range, with clear opportunities for growth and advancement within the pay band over time. Compensation decisions are made holistically, ensuring fairness and alignment with market benchmarks while recognizing individual contributions, performance, and long-term potential.
