Job summary

Sand Point Child Development Center, a small nonprofit preschool in Seattle, seeks a Full Time Float Teacher to support three classrooms, assist teachers, and prepare materials. You will identify individual student needs and ensure smooth daily routines.

Ideal candidates have a year of preschool teaching experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and some early childhood education credits or degree. STARS training is a plus and a caring, reliable team player is essential.

Who We Are

Sand Point Child Development Center (SPCDC) is a small, independent, non-profit preschool located in Northeast Seattle that has been in operation for over 40 years. Our preschool is open year-round with three classrooms - Toddler, Young Pre-Kindergarten (YPK), and Pre-Kindergarten (PK) - and a huge outdoor natural play area certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Habitat. The school is licensed by the state of WA for 23 children from 18 months to 6 years old.

We embrace a community based mindset where teachers, children, and families work closely together to create a warm, play-based environment that promotes the development of our students. Our small center allows for purposeful interactions between teachers and children where creativity and imagination are honored. We strive to create an environment that encourages teachers and children to find new ways to problem solve, grow, and connect with one another.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Full Time Float Teacher to join our team to provide support across our three classrooms. We seek a kind, dependable, creative teacher who is experienced in the classroom and is passionate about early childhood growth and development. Responsibilities include acting as a second hand in the classroom, preparing classroom materials, identifying individual needs of the students, and having effective communication with teachers and parents.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of preschool teaching experience
  • Early childhood development education credits or degree preferred
  • STARS training completion or in progress preferred
  • Team player who is dedicated to the joy, growth, and well-being of young children
  • Dependable and reliable

  • Bloodborne pathogen training
  • Food Handlers Card
  • Proof of negative TB Test
  • Proof of MMR vaccination

Position is full time, Monday-Friday. School hours are 7:45am - 6pm. Compensation DOE.
