Job summary

ADAPT Community Network seeks a Mentor Teacher to support Special Education and UPK programs across its William O'Connor Bay Ridge and Staten Island locations. You will plan individualized instruction, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster an inclusive classroom environment.

The role includes serving as a teacher-team leader, providing coaching to teachers and interns, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with a personal computer and appropriate software.
• Confidential handling of student and staff records.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and adapt daily lessons based on IEPs.
• Develop short- and long-term instructional goals and evaluate progress.
• Participate in evaluations, intake assessments, and transition planning.
• Prepare educational reports including annual reviews and progress reports.
• Lead professional development and mentor teachers and aides.
