Job summary

ADAPT Community Network in New York is seeking a Preschool Special Education Teacher for the William O'Connor: Bay Ridge School. This role includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus and emphasizes leadership of student teams and collaboration with families and staff.

Under general direction, you will plan effective preschool and Early Intervention classes, ensure compliance with NY State requirements, and support a welcoming, inclusive classroom culture for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and appropriate software.
• Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, children and their parents.
• Must maintain confidentiality of student’s records and staff records.
• Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.
• Available Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts classes/activities adapted to needs of students.
• Assesses and prepares IFSP/IEP’s; implements and evaluates short and long-term goals.
• Participates in activities pertaining to student transitioning.
• Participates in Initial Evaluations and Intake processes.
• Provides educational assessment and evaluation on students annually.
• Prepares and adapts lesson plans and materials; organizes environment.
• Maintains records of daily attendance and progress; writes reports.
• Ensures confidentiality of students and staff information.
• Participates in team meetings and parent meetings as required.
• Supervises Teacher Assistants and provides guidance.
