Job summary

AHRC New York City seeks a Special Education Preschool Teacher Assistant for the Howard Haber ELC in Parkchester, Bronx. This full-time role runs a 10-month program with a 30-day summer session, hours 8:30 AM–3:00 PM, Mon-Fri.

You will support daily activities, implement lesson plans aligned to NYS standards and IEPs, and assist in promoting school readiness for young children with special needs. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• NYS Teaching Assistant Certification Levels I-III.
• HS/AA or 60 credits; BA or MA varies depending on vacancies.
• Experience supporting preschool students in special education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in daily activities in a preschool Special Education classroom.
• Implement daily schedule/lesson plans aligned to NYS standards and IEP goals.
• Use prompting, pacing and reinforcement strategies to support student learning.
• Recognize and address potential behavioral issues and maintain a safe classroom environment.

Education
