Job summary

AHRC New York City seeks a Special Education Preschool Teacher Assistant to support instructional activities in a preschool classroom. The role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:00 PM, in Astoria, NY, as part of a 10-month program with a 30-day summer session.

You will assist the lead teacher with activities, help implement lesson plans aligned to NYS standards, and use reinforcement strategies to support student growth and socialization.

Qualifications

• Assist the teacher in daily activities in a preschool Special Education classroom.
• Implement daily schedule/lesson plans aligned to NYS standards and IEP goals.
• Use prompting, pacing and reinforcement strategies to support student learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in daily activities in a preschool Special Education classroom.
• Participate in implementation of daily schedule/lesson plans aligned to NYS standards.
• Demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques and behavior support strategies.
• Promote generalization of concepts and socialization.

Education

NYS Teaching Assistant Certification Levels I-III
