Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks a Preschool Coordinator for the City Heights site. You will plan, develop, and implement program directives with the branch and Community Care Licensing, supervise staff, and ensure compliance across sites.

The role requires 21+ years old, a high school diploma or GED, relevant education, and several years in child/youth development with supervisory experience. The position operates Monday–Friday, 8:15am–5:15pm, onsite at City Heights.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma/GED.
• Minimum 15 college units (9 ECE core, 3 Infant‑Toddler, 3 Admin).
• AA or BA in Education, Child Development or related field preferred.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in child and youth development, education, or related setting.
• Minimum 1 year supervising early childhood education program sites.
• Criminal record fingerprint clearance required prior to working.
• TB test clearance within 60 days prior to employment or visiting a school site.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire (Adult and Child/Infant).
• Experience with YMCA CYD programs and vendor communication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with school personnel and parents to maintain positive relations and share pertinent information.
• Provide leadership to establish a positive environment where youth and families are treated with respect.
• Perform site visits to ensure quality and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Assist in supervising and evaluating staff, youth leaders, and program volunteers.
• Attend required regional and county meetings, trainings, and in-services.
• Maintain staff files and ensure compliance with standards at all sites.
• Remain informed on current child care programs to relay information to families.
