Job summary

Southwest ISD in Texas is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to assist teachers and support student learning. This role focuses on helping individuals or small groups achieve skill objectives while maintaining a well-organized classroom environment that enables all students to benefit from the instructional program.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with an ESSA/NCLB certificate or an associate degree or 48 college hours, plus fingerprint clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with ESSA or NCLB certificate or an Associate degree or 48 college hours from an accredited college
• Fingerprinting check must have satisfactory outcome
• Experience working with children is preferred

Responsibilities

• Communicate and work with students, parents, community, co-workers and administration.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Read aloud to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication.
• Alert the regular teacher to any problems or special information about a student.
• Assist in monitoring the students throughout the school day, inside and outside of classroom.
• Serve as the chief information source for substitutes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
• Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
