Job summary

Kidango in the San Francisco Bay Area seeks a Lead Teacher to guide preschool-age classrooms in a state-funded program, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment. Model high-quality teaching, plan curriculum, supervise staff, and coordinate with families to support each child’s growth.

With an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education and a California Teacher Permit, you will lead a team, maintain records, and ensure compliance with licensing standards while

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in early childhood education or related field.
• California Teacher Permit required.
• Must meet Title 5 and Title 22 requirements for Lead Teacher.
• 2–3 years of preschool experience in a licensed program preferred.
• Experience leading classroom activities and supporting staff.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Health and safety training including nutrition requirements.
• Immunization records compliant with SB 792.
• Must be a mandated reporter.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily supervision and preschool-age care in a safe, developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, and routines.
• Promote social-emotional, cognitive, language, literacy, and math development through play.
• Support classroom routines including meals, rest, transitions, and group activities.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, licensing and program requirements.
• Observe and document development to plan individualized learning experiences.
• Support children with IEP goals and specialized supports with families and staff.
• Maintain attendance, meal counts, observations, and program records.
• Engage families through regular communication and conferences.
• Provide leadership and daily guidance to Associate Teachers and aides.
• Prepare materials, keep the classroom organized, and ensure readiness.
• Collaborate with Center Director and team to ensure high-quality services.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
• Maintain confidentiality and represent Kidango’s mission and values.
