Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an Instructional Assistant to support the VPI teacher and ensure safe arrival and daily activities for preschool children. You will help supervise, prepare materials, and assist with meals and hygiene.

The role may include bus duties, home visits, and parent workshops. Requirements include a high school diploma (or equivalent) and Paraprofessional Assessments or 48 college credits; background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education behavior.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques and clerical procedures.
• General academic subjects sufficient to teach others.

Responsibilities

• Assist preschool teacher to ensure safe arrival and departure of children.
• Supervise children during center instruction and help develop instructional materials.
• Carry out activities with small groups, including plan-do-review and social skills.
• Assist with breakfast and lunch, supervise meals.
• Monitor behavior and enforce rules.
• Assist with home visits and parent workshops as appropriate.
• Attend training and staff development as deemed appropriate.
• Maintain positive, professional attitude and team spirit.
