Job summary

The Los Alamitos Unified School District is seeking a part-time Preschool Assistant to support the Preschool Lead and classroom teachers. You will help plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 2.9 to 5, and provide a safe, nurturing environment.

This role operates 2:15pm–6:00pm with an 18.75 hour weekly schedule. Requirements include a high school diploma, at least 12 ECE/CD units, and a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and minimum 12 units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development coursework including core courses.
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher is required at time of employment.
• At least fifty (50) days of 3+ hours per day within two (2) years working with preschool aged children in an organized classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Preschool Lead or classroom teacher in planning, organizing and implementing approved curriculum for 2.9 to 5 year olds.
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment conducive to growth and development of children 2.9 to 5 years old.
