Occidental College’s Child Development Center is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to collaborate with Lead Preschool Teachers in delivering a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 2–5. Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 semester units in Child Development including core courses (Child Growth & Development, Child, Family & Community, Curriculum planning).
• Minimum of 3 months experience in a play-based preschool setting.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant supervision of children and attend to needs, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Collaborate on development of play-based, emergent curriculum with Lead Teachers.
• Build relationships with children and partner with parents to share information about development and progress.
• Assist with general classroom and center-wide duties, including paperwork and medications as needed.
• Document children's learning observations and share insights with the team.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and adhere to regulations.
