JOB DESCRIPTION
INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT: General Education
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate of Arts degree
- Two years of college (48 credit hours)
- Pass the ParaPro exam (state assessment test for knowledge of an ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and math)
Reports to: Principal and under supervision of the classroom teacher
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively with student and other staff members.
- Ability to proficiently aid teacher in the performance of clerical duties.
- Ability to work well with staff and students in her/his charge.
- Aid teacher in preparing classroom for school.
- Help prepare and distribute lesson materials.
- Instruct students under teacher supervision.
- Keep classroom neat and orderly.
- Aid teacher in arranging bulletin boards.
- Supervise cafeteria, playground, etc. under teacher supervision.
- Assist with all clerical duties, i.e., student records, copying, etc.
- Aid in preparing the classroom for the close of school.
- Maintain effective communication with teacher.
- Work with groups of students inside and/or outside the classroom.
- Assess abilities and assist with the collection of academic/behavioral data of students.
- Any other related duties as may be assigned by the building principal.
