Job summary

Ascend is a multidisciplinary company providing Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy to children in home, outpatient, and school settings. This Instructional Assistant role is in-person in a preschool classroom, ~30 hours/week, with duties including tutoring, behavior support, and clerical tasks.

The position requires a high school diploma and experience with children; salary is $25–$29 per hour, with benefits like health, dental, and PTO. Monday to Friday schedule in California.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Prior professional experience working with children.
• In-person position in preschool classroom setting.
• Experience with children: 1 year (Required).
• School setting: 1 year (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activities.
• Assist in the management and shaping of student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies.
• Auditory and visual monitoring of students both inside the classroom and during outside activities.
• May perform clerical duties such as filing or duplicating materials.
• Use computer to maintain student records, attendance and files.
• Maintain student discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Assist in maintaining a neat, orderly, and attractive learning environment.
• Perform all related duties as assigned.
