Job summary

The role involves planning assistance, progress monitoring, and maintaining a safe learning environment. A high school diploma or equivalent plus college coursework or Praxis Parapro is required, with related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; one of: Associate degree or 2 years of college or 72 quarter hours / 48 semester hours; or Praxis Parapro passing score.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and basic software applications.
• Ability to perform basic math and read/write documented information.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned teacher with planning and implementing activities aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Provide input for assessment by recording anecdotal observations.
• Maintain a safe, healthy classroom environment in line with program goals.
• Adhere to licensing or classroom certification regulations.
• Attend meetings and trainings to improve job performance.
• Communicate with teachers and/or parents regarding student progress.
• Support teachers by implementing instructional programs and lesson plans.
• Maintain classroom resources and student records for accurate information.
• Monitor students in various settings to ensure safety and learning.
• Perform clerical tasks to support teacher and staff.
• Report incidents and observations to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to emergencies and direct to appropriate responders.
• Support classroom teacher in curriculum delivery and teaching methodologies.
