The Opportunity Alliance in Portland, ME is hiring a Teacher Aide for Head Start classrooms. The role supports early childhood learning, family engagement, and social-emotional development with a strong team. This is a year-round, full-time position located in Portland.

Responsibilities include fostering relationships, guiding activities, and assisting with routines while upholding Head Start policies and child safety standards. Training and supervision are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; may enroll in GED/ CDA within 2 years.
• 1 year of center-based teaching or related early childhood work preferred.
• Knowledge of culture's role in child and family development.
• Ability to work effectively with teams.
• Commitment to social justice and Head Start mission.
• Must pass criminal background, child protective service and sex offender checks.
• Pre-employment physical and TB screen; up-to-date MMR and TDAP.
• Must lift and carry up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Reliable transportation for meetings and trainings.
