Job summary

Mount Vernon School in Atlanta is seeking a Preschool After School Extended Play Teacher to support indoor and outdoor activities and supervise Preschool students (ages 2-6) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, during a 10-month school year.

The role requires teamwork with the classroom teaching staff, a safety-first approach, and the ability to engage children in extended learning experiences while maintaining a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school, after-school or camp environment preferred.
• Background or interest in the field of education preferred.
• Strong written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and flex with the needs of children.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to use sound judgment.
• Passion for working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support the extension of daytime learning by liaising with the classroom teaching team.
• Maintain necessary housekeeping duties of the classrooms, common use areas, and playgrounds.
• Attend all required staff meetings, professional learning experiences, and/or related school functions (2 per month on average).
• Facilitate Faculty Kids Camps in the two weeks prior to the start of school, the week following the end of school and other days throughout the school year.
• Hours: M-F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Team

The Extended Play Team is the faculty support group that manages all after school programming and facilitates high-quality play and robust learning engagement in the afternoons for ages PK2 (Age 2) through G5 (Grade 5).

The Role

The Preschool After School Extended Play Teacher is responsible for assisting with indoor and outdoor projects, projects, games, play, and general safety/supervision of Preschool students (ages 2-6) between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm daily. Work occurs on premises at Mount Vernon’s Lower Campus. This is a 10-month, school-year role.
