About the Waldorf School of the Peninsula

(Preschool‑Grade 12) is celebrating its 41st year of bringing Waldorf education to Northern California. The school has two campuses: Preschool‑Grade 5 in Los Altos and grades 6‑12 in Mountain View. It is a full member and accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Position Overview

We are seeking a part‑time extended care teaching assistant for our preschool program at the Los Altos, CA campus beginning August 2026. The role is an hourly, part‑time school‑year position of approximately 15‑20 hours per week, with possible work during school breaks and summers. Availability Monday through Friday 3 pm‑6 pm is required, and from 8:00 am on select days when school is closed but Extended Care is offered.

Responsibilities

• Track student arrivals and departures.
• Supervise and support student activities and social interactions.
• Communicate with parents.
• Perform housekeeping duties, including organization of materials and classroom space, food preparation, laundry, and cleaning tasks.
• Maintain safety and solve problems with discernment while maintaining confidentiality of student and organizational information.

• Experience working with kindergarten and elementary‑age children.
• Ability to be physically active: walking, bending, lifting approximately 25 lb, squatting, and playing for the majority of the work day.
• Strong professional interpersonal skills, ability to multitask and take ownership of a wide range of children’s needs.
• Ability to maintain routines and rhythms while adapting to changing circumstances.
