Job summary

Smart Start Academy is seeking a cook to prepare meals for children in our school and ensure a clean, safe kitchen. The role may require stepping into the classroom to cover staff breaks and supervise children when needed.

Candidates should have basic cooking skills, experience in food service, and the ability to read recipes and follow menus. Strong English communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Must work 8:30am–6:30pm, Monday–Friday.
• Basic cooking skills and experience in food service.
• Able to read and follow recipes and a cycle menu.
• Able to relate well to parents, children and other staff members.
• Must communicate effectively and be functionally literate in English.
• Must possess organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to prioritize.
• Keeps the kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean.
• Ensures health, safety and sanitation standards are met; follows standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for children in the school.
• Clean the kitchen area and assist in classroom if needed.
• Follow cycle menus and maintain kitchen hygiene and safety.
