Job summary

The client is seeking a knowledgeable food safety and nutrition-focused Preschool Cook Assistant to support the Head Cook in all daily food preparation at their premier preschool in Adelino, NM.

This is a direct hire, full-time position with hours 7:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, year-round.

Responsibilities include working with the caterer, delivering nutritious menus, and ensuring health and safety regulations are followed.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Food manager certification preferred or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to lift ~30 pounds.
• Background check eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Support daily food preparation and ensure safety and health compliance.
• Coordinate with Head Cook and caterer to deliver nutritious menus for children.
• Receive and store food from caterer per health standards.
• Prepare daily snacks and distribute meals to classrooms.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization across kitchen and facilities.

Salary

• $12.97- $14.50/hour pending education, credentials, and professional cook/food-handler experience

Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the schools vision, mission, values and beliefs at all times.
• Ensure the health, safety, care and well-being of children at all times and compliance with quality standards in tandem with all local, state and federal laws, standards and regulations.
• Supporting the relationship with the food service caterer.
• Partnering with the Head Cookand the caterer to deliver child-friendly, nutritious menus.
• Ensuring food is accepted from caterer each day and stored according to all health and safety regulations.
• Preparing daily snacks.
• Distributing food to every classroom in accordance will all center health, safety and allergy restriction practices.
• Ensuring all food service items are collected from classrooms, cleaned and stored in accordance with health, safety and allergy restriction practices.
• Ensure entire facility operates at the highest level of cleanliness throughout the day.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED Age: must be at least 18 years of age
• PREFERRED Education: High School Diploma
• PREFERRED Certification: Food Manager Certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Must be able to lift ~30 pounds
• Must meet background check eligibility
