Job summary

Groundworks New Mexico is seeking a dedicated food service worker in Deming, NM. Responsibilities include preparing, purchasing, storing, and serving food while adhering to child nutrition policies. Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; or CDA or New Mexico Child Development Certificate.
• Previous cooking experience required.
• First Aid/CPR Certified and Food Handler’s Certification or willing to obtain.
• Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred.

Job description

Prepare, purchase, store, and serve food in accordance with USDA/CACFP and NM Environmental Division and other related child nutrition policies and procedures. Able to adapt to daily fast‑paced food service environment for young children and work cooperatively and supportively with center staff. Ensure all activities and interactions will be in conformance with all federal, state, and local regulations, standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.

Education/Background

• High School or GED preferred
• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; or Child Development Associate (CDA) or New Mexico Child Development Certificate or willing to work towards requirements within a specific timeframe identified by the program.
• Previous cooking experience required
• First Aid/CPR Certified and Food Handler’s Certification or willing to obtain within the first 6‑months of employment is required
• Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred
