The Learning Experience in Enfield, CT is seeking a Preschool Cook who will plan, prepare, and cook healthy meals for preschool children and maintain allergy records to ensure safety. You will collaborate with teachers and leadership, follow strict sanitation procedures, and manage inventory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1+ year of experience in food preparation and cooking.
• Serve Safe/ Food Handler certificate required.
• Serve Safe Allergen certificate or obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook healthy meals for preschool children.
• Maintain and track food allergies for each child and communicate them to teachers daily.
• Follow food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures.
• Purchase food and supplies and keep inventory records per local/state requirements.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude with parents and children.

The Learning Experience seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Cook to join our team as an ambassador of happiness. As a Preschool Cook with us, you'll play a key role in making a difference in the lives of children, their families, and communities by cooking daily nutritious meals.

You will:

• Plan, prepare, and cook healthy and delicious meals for preschool children that meet proper nutritional requirements.
• Maintain and track food allergies for each child in our center, ensuring their safety, and communicate any identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery.
• Follow proper food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures to ensure food is stored properly.
• Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to purchase all necessary food and supplies and keep inventory records as local and state agencies require.
• Provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards parents and children, listen, and communicate effectively.
• Be flexible and adaptable to the daily business needs of a childcare center.
• Be able to take inventory and distribute supplies needed throughout the childcare center.
• Cover restroom and lunch breaks in the classroom with children.

If you have:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience in food preparation and cooking.
• Have the Serve Safe/ Food Handler certificate
• Have the Serve Safe Allergen certificate or obtain the Serve Safe Allergen within 90 days of hire.
