Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. is seeking an Assistant Teacher who supports the Lead Teacher in delivering a caring curriculum and maintaining a safe classroom. You will help supervise children, assist with routine activities, and communicate with families to reinforce the YMCA mission.

The role involves health checks, daily documentation for licensing and program requirements, and collaborating with staff to ensure a positive learning environment for all children.

Qualifications

• Experience in early childhood education preferred.
• Ability to follow Center policies and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising children under the direction of Lead/Assistant Lead Teacher.
• Interact with children during play, routine times, and group activities.
• Complete daily paperwork for licensing and YMCA requirements (attendance, meals, incidents).
• Promote a safe environment and health/nutrition practices.
• Prepare classroom before children arrive and clean after departures.
• Support other classrooms and substitute as needed.
• Build positive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
• Attend mandated trainings (minimum 20 hours/year) and staff meetings.
• Learn classroom policies and procedures from assigned staff.
