Job summary

Crossroads YMCA is seeking a Teacher Assistant I for the Preschool Program in Crown Point, Indiana. You will support the Teacher Lead by planning activities and caring for children, delivering a quality experience aligned with YMCA values such as honesty and respect.

The position runs for the Preschool session, with pay starting at $12.50 per hour and based on experience. Certifications and safety training must be completed within designated timelines; strong communication and teamwork are

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in childcare is preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Required training: Keeping your YMCA Safe and New Employee Orientation.
• Continuing education: 12 units annually.

Responsibilities

• Supports implementation of curriculum under Teacher Lead guidance.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming and builds belonging.
• Supervises children and classroom activities, including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• Maintains program records and attendance; participates in parent conferences as needed.
• Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
• Assists in family events and staff meetings; supports class materials accessibility.
