Job summary

GCCARD Head Start is hiring a Teacher Assistant to support the lead teacher, help manage students, and assist with classroom activities and related paperwork. This full-time position spans 42–52 weeks per year with a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements include a CDA or AA in child development. Experience in a preschool setting is preferred, with special consideration for applicants who are or have been Head Start parents. An interim path is available for CDA-track candidates.

Qualifications

• CDA or AA degree in child development required.
• Prefer individual with experience as an assistant in a preschool program.
• Preference given to past and current parents of Head Start.
• Interim position for individuals enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor degree or CDA credential program to be completed within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of para-professional tasks under the direction of the teacher; assists in managing students, classroom activities, and paperwork.
