Job summary

CAIRO Academy is seeking a Classroom Aide to support Lead and Assistant Teachers across CAIRO sites in the Portland metro area. You will help deliver the Creative Curriculum and Second Step, assist with daily activities, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for ages 3–5.

Applicants should have at least 1 year in a certified childcare setting, be 18+, and able to lift up to 50 lbs. The role includes occasional travel to CAIRO locations and requires English proficiency with potential bilingual

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of verified experience in a certified childcare center (ages 3–5).
• Must be 18+ and enrolled in Oregon’s Central Background Registry before offer.
• Experience in inclusive settings with varied support needs.
• Must have 240 documented hours as an Aide I or II in a certified childcare center.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily activities and curriculum delivery.
• Support teachers in addressing parent/guardian concerns and maintain a safe, engaging classroom.
• Step in for the Assistant Teacher when they are on leave.
• Collaborate with site coordinators to ensure compliance with DELC, PFA, PSP, OSHA and EH Authority.
• Travel to CAIRO Academy sites as needed to meet program needs.
