Job summary

Falls Church City Public Schools is seeking staff for an after-school program role that values your input and feedback. This position focuses on safe, engaging activities for preschool-age children and requires energy, creativity, and a collaborative spirit.

The role is 30 hours per week, afternoon hours, from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, with starting pay $20.35–$23.09 per hour depending on education and experience. Benefits include paid leave, health insurance, and retirement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or demonstrated level.
• CPR and basic first aid certifications are required.
• Experience with preschool-age children is preferred.

General Responsibilities

Provides childcare and developmental activities for children before and/or after school, assisting and motivating children to achieve maximum potential. Must be an energetic, resourceful, and creative planner who can multitask with ease.

Education And Experience

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school
• CPR and basic first aid certifications

Physical Requirements

• Medium work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Work requires stooping, reaching, standing, and walking
• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
• The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
• The worker is subject to noise and may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment
