Job summary

Blue River Services, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Child & Youth Services Preschool/Child Care Instructor to provide developmentally appropriate care and instruction for preschool and child care participants in a safe, engaging classroom.

You will support children’s cognitive, social-emotional, language, physical, and self-help development through structured activities, daily routines, and The Creative Curriculum, while coordinating with therapists on IEP goals when needed.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Active enrollment toward CDA credential or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
• Previous experience with children helpful but not required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team with shared responsibilities.
• Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, coworkers, and community partners.
• Strong classroom-management, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to plan engaging, age-appropriate activities and respond to individual children’s needs.
• Must be at least 21 years old to supervise an infant/toddler group.
• Must be at least 18 years old to supervise when all children are at least 24 months old.

Responsibilities

• Greet children and families and maintain professional communication.
• Create a safe, orderly, nurturing classroom meeting licensing requirements.
• Supervise children at all times in classroom, on playground, and during meals.
• Interact with children at their developmental level during activities.
• Use positive classroom-management techniques and provide guidance.
• Plan daily schedules and lesson plans using The Creative Curriculum.
• Lead activities supporting cognitive, language, fine/gross motor, and social-emotional development.
• Balance teacher-directed and child-initiated activities with developmentally appropriate choices.
• Encourage nutrition, dental hygiene, health habits during snacks and meals.
• Assist children with meals and model appropriate behavior.
