Bedford Public Schools invites applications for the position of Van Monitor (Preschool). This role focuses on safety, supervision, and transportation of preschool students receiving special education services from pickup to school and back.

Responsibilities include monitoring for behavioral issues, ensuring seat belts, and reporting problems while maintaining equitable access for all students. CORI and background checks are required before employment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Physically capable of performing duties (lifting, carrying children, ambulatory and prosthetic devices).
• Awareness and sensitivity for children with special needs.

Responsabilités

• Responsible for being aware and responding to any need or problem which a child in need of special education has which may cause difficulties during transportation, i.e., behavioral concerns, seizures, or any disability.
• Responsible for crossing children safely, when necessary.
• Responsible for making sure children are seated safely and remain seated and buckled when riding the bus.
• Responsible for reporting behavior problems and maintaining appropriate behavior of children riding the bus.
• Responsible for all children being accounted for during pickup and deliveries to and from school.
• Responsible for being trained to take necessary emergency measures.
• Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, natural origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.
• Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
• Responsible for assisting the driver in the pre-trip safety inspection, as needed.
