Capital Area Head Start is seeking full time Behavior Guidance Specialists to join our mission in providing a comprehensive child development program designed to give children a head start in life, empowering parents and strengthening families.

The Behavior Guidance Specialist assists with developing and implementing behavioral interventions and delivering classroom support based on child behavior observation outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 credits toward a bachelor’s in early childhood education, special education, psychology or related field.
• Minimum of one year teaching or classroom experience with preschool children in early childhood settings or related experience.
• Experience managing challenging behaviors and knowledge of social and emotional development in preschoolers.
• Experience designing and delivering interactive professional development.
• Intermediate computer skills and ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook and web-based systems.

Responsabilités

• Develop and implement behavioral interventions and supports.
• Provide classroom support based on child behavior observations.
• Educate families and colleagues about social-emotional development and positive guidance.
• Maintain high-quality behavioral services and ongoing training opportunities.
